Prelude tranny interchangeability
Does anyone out there know whether any Integra or Accord trannys are interchangeable with the stock 5 spped in a 3rd gen Prelude ('88 to 91)? I am looking for some different gearing for my 91 Lude for race use.
Have any of you guys worked with this model? It's a great racer but I need to improve my acceleration out of the corners, and need a lower final drive ratio, like the 4.785 that came in some Integras, but I'm not sure if the trannys are compatible.
I'm new to this site, but not to Hondas, as I've driven them since 1976, and have raced a Civic and 2 Preludes since 1998, with some good success. Any help will be appreciated.

Supposedly the H series internals fit into the 3G cases, which would open up a large range of stuff for you, including MFactory diffs and final drives, if they'll fit.
So I'd say get the cheapest H/F tranny you can find and try and make it work, I know it requires some machine work, but that shouldn't hold you up for a racecar.

Thanks JLude90. This is good news. Do you know of anyone who has actually swapped any H tranny internals with the D2 series tranny in a 3rd gen? I hadn't heard of that before.
