octane,compression and elevation question
ok so ive been sitting here for the past 2 hours searching on this on honda-tech and google and well i cant find much.
i found a chart/forum page before but it seem to be gone, what im wondering si does anyone have a somwwhat guess-tamation chart of the octane levels to use for diffrent compression ratios at diffretn elevations??
more or less im wondering for my build.
my d16 for right now is na
i live at an elevation of 3500 feet
ive got p29 piston and im using a mls d16a6 gasket(0.048 in thickness)
most fuel stations around here offer about 91-92 octane now im wondering, well more wanting to confrim that 91-92 is gonna be ok for an 11.5:1 dynamic comp ratio

I think you need to research a little more. Look into dynamic and static compression ratio a little more. There are plenty of threads like this in the All-Motor section (especially the ones that the "Master of the Universe" have posted in).
Also, with your setup you should have more like a 11.3:1 static compression ratio. So I am more curious I guess, where you are getting a 11.5:1 dynamic CR?r
Remember these two things...
DCR is ALWAYS LOWER than SCR... and DCR is preset when the engine is put together and will not change when the engine is running (unless of course you have variable valve timing (VTEC))...
So with that out of the way, it is all in the tune anyways, and you can run up to around 12.5:1 safely with 92 octane...
Here check this out too a little on octane for you...

If you need more explanation on why DCR is always lower than SCR then just ask if you can't figure it out...
