did you check all other possibilties? slave cylinder, master cylinder, and clutch...if you did then its time to open up one of them to see if it really is seized which is kind of rare. also check your tranny fluid level and back mount

Rebuild trans?

Take the old one apart. You've got nothing to lose at this point.

Buy a trans from a salvage yard that has some kind of warranty.

I always test shift a transmission before installing it. I also make sure all of the gears rotate freely. A good mechanic should have done that as well.

You test shift with the shift linkage. You then spin the input shaft in all gears and verify that the differential is spinning.

You'll have to pen it first and determine what is wrong.

Thanks for your input.

But what do YOU think could be wrong, after he installed it he said the shifter was frozen and everything was locked up, and he couldnt even shift. New clutch just put in too and i believe a slave cylinder

I would guess installation error. The shifter should move somewhat. Did this transmission physically look reasonable? Was they excess corrosion or anything?

Guessing is the best I can do with those details.

Yes the transmission looked good. No corrosion or anything pretty clean, and it still had plenty of tranny fluid in it. Could an incorrect clutch install do this too? Anyways any good links for tranny install, i think i will ask him to let me take a look.
