Post your MIG Stainless Steel SS welds.
We've all seen the heavenly TIG, but I think that MIG can put up a fight as well and its easier on the pockets.
Post your MIG+gas+SS wire shots. Trimix-gas yields optimum results, but a few have ventured out using other shielding gases. Whatever it may be, post pictures of your results and what you used. I want to get some ideas as to what to expect out of MIG and for everyone else thats wondering.

I played around with some .035 SS 309 wire in my wire feed a year or so ago, it welds okay with the right heat, but splatters more than I like. I'm sticking to my tig :-)
You can avoid just about all spatter by getting your heat & wire speed dialed in correctly. I am still real green at welding, but the guy I work with showed me the difference a few months ago. I was amazed a mig weld could be so clean.

Didnt really have time to play around today but I took this pic with my phone while I was jammed inside this weldment.
304 SS 1/4 to 3/16 lap joint. 24v 421ipm 98%argon 2%oxygen gas.

I have the day off tomorrow and nothing to do so I might go to the shop and play around a bit. What do you want to see done with mig and SS?
I'll probably weld some 3/16 coupons and maybe some scrap pieces of tubing and pipe together. It will probably be all trimix since you've seen spray already.

Been to busy to weld any tube. I found some 1.5 scraps that i'll try to weld up tomorrow. I wont weld it with any other gas than trimix because i've tried SC on stainless with 98/2(oxy and co2) argon, some wierd quad mix(dont remember what it was exactly) 95/5 co2 and for the hell of it c25 and c10 and its a waste of time, gas, wire and material imho.
Ok i had some time to play around today. I had a hell of a time getting 308 lsi .035 wire to run low enough to buttweld 14g tubing. I usually just tig it so be gentle. I did some 12g to save face though
Sorry in advance for the phone pics. Im not allowed to bring a camera into the shop.
14g tube. its 2.xx 304. The weld is full pen except for my bitchin tie in(sarcasm) in that you can see in the upper left hand corner of the root pic. Esab okautorod lsi .035 18v 180ipm 15cfh trimix gas on a MM252.

Here are some 12g welds. 304 stainless welding with Esab okautorod lsi .035 19v 270ipm 15cfh trimix gas on a MM252. Butt, fillet and lap.
