having distributor trouble...
i bought a "brand new" distributor and the timing was so far retarded on it that my car wouldnt idle and it would rev very slow and shot massive fireballs out the exhaust... i bought it off ebay and messaged him and asked for a REFUND. sent him back the distributor but instead of refunding me, he sent me another one. this one is better, my car idles, but it still feels like the timing is a bit retarded, even though i have the timing set to full advance on the distributor. i have another used one i bought that works fine, but both distributors is causing my car to throw a CEL code 8 (top dead center sensor). even the "brand new" one does. also, why would my car be throwing a CEL code 8? would any other bad sensor set it off? FYI its an OBD0 B16A with PR3 ECU
it's probably the wiring on the car. check the plugs at the distributor and the ecu. you may have a loose/broken/corroded wire or pin. then check the timing with the jumper and a timing light
it may be a problem with the wiring... im just waiting for my Rywire harness to get here so i can figure out for sure what the problem is. also, the first distributor that came with my swap wasnt throwing any CELs until it took a crap. im checking the timing tomorrow.
any other help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
