Default Spoon head gaskets?

Sorry if this has ever been covered, search returned ****. Anyways I was wondering if anyone runs the spoon gaskets that are supposed to bump compression a few points? Are results worth the extra price? Need a new one in my 99 EM1... Any help is appreciated, also best place to pick one up? Thanks in advance!

you buy an oem gasket and take a layer off. That will bump compression without the extra price.

Is that safe? And I'm sure it couldn't do enough to make a noticeable difference? Just noticed that I need to replace my head gasket and remembered seeing the spoons that were supposed to bump it up a little. Was just wondering if there would actually be a noticable difference. Thanks!

on my ls- vtec compression was 12.19:1 with oem, and 12.44:1 with a layer taken off.
