Default Need suggestions for turbo. Time Attack / SM car.

I spent the past hour researching turbos and only thing I can find is people saying SC61 this, SC61 that...

So, hopefully you all can help and I hope I'm not asking for a miracle...
my ideal conditions:
- spools by 5000rpms or sooner
- 250whp-300whp
- pump gas capability (i know this is more in tuning)
- running a completely stock B16A3 block and head
- doesn't have AC so no need to worry about that
- MUST be able to handle running 20mins of a track session (I know, that's more on the cooling system and tuning).
- turbo cost <$500

Here's what I have so far that I would hate to have to replace... but will if necessary:
- 550 rci injectors
- craptastic XSPower manifold
- ebay bov
- 5 bolt downpipe
- S300

So, seeing a lot of guys making 350+ on stock B16A3... I was hoping I could make less power, with less boost, and get it to spool sooner. So, any help is appreciated (even pointing me to a place to read up on).

Those areas are where its going to be a pain for you to find unless very USED, and you know the person, or at least their reputation selling it to you. good luck to you.

For an extra $100 he can get one of these, and it seems they will allll cover his power goal.

For the OP, i would at least invest in a better manifold. (Inline Pro is greatt for the money). And i'm sure you can find a used unit for a greattt deal RIGHT NOW in the forsale section here or elsewhere. Considering a new one is under $500.

And i have seen people mod 1st Gen Ecplise BOVs to handle up to 20psi. And you can get thoes for lunch money at a junkyard.

i would DEFF not use a shitty thin walled manifold on a road race car, actually, i wouldn't even want to use a stainless schedule pipe manifold either. I think a cast manifold such as inline pro is a better option here, and cheaper.

The turbo, i would go with something with fast transient response, such as a ball bearing turbo with a proper sized compressor/turbine for your power goals. if you only want 300whp, don't use a turbo capable of 600whp.

evo 9 turbo is going to get tricky with the flanging. so i would go with a popular t3 or even t2 flanged gt28rs.

a ssac manifold road racing?... LOL

get rid of that.

get a integra full sized radiator and a oil cooler, then you might make it 5 laps before it over heats.

and under 500 for a quailty turbo that can handle it, good luck.

EXACTLY the kind of thing I'm looking for! I'll review the link a bit more and do some further research on it...

That's what I keep reading... that XSPower is just about the worst manifold option you can come across. BUT, since I got it for free, I figured... what the hell.... why not try it?

And i have seen people mod 1st Gen Ecplise BOVs to handle up to 20psi. And you can get thoes for lunch money at a junkyard.
I got a BOV already that is said to handle 20psi. will find out

I actually got an absolute full length dual-core radiator... but, I'm not sure of any manifolds that lets you run a full length radiator? But, then again... I haven't really looked since I had a free manifold laying around...

and under 500 for a quailty turbo that can handle it, good luck.
Asking too much? Well, those were my IDEAL requirements, but I understand that I'll have to make some exceptions in various places... I'd just hate to spend $3000 on a turbo setup on a $400 car... but, then again, power cost money.

Thanks for the advice so far...

Get an InlinePro SS Log and a GT28 or a T3 Super 60. That will spool very quickly and give you a supercharger-ish powerband rather than the lag...lag...lag...wheelspin that you'll get with the SC61 or equivalent.
