Default Looking for input on if this would be strong enough

I have a 89 Honda accord running the JDM B20A and they do NOT use a tranny mount and i wanted to know if it would be physically strong enough to tig weld a mount to a bell housing?

And i plan to use the Explicit Speed traction bar kit which has a stabilizer not a mount. And i am looking to do this more because my stock mounts are not cutting it and i think a tranny mount, side mount, and rear mount would be more supportive than having a front, rear, and only one side mount.

I can post up pictures of my bell housing later but its not like the B-series that have stud posts welded to it as mine is bare. Let me know what you guys think as i am not sure if anyone has tried this since most modern honda's use a tranny mount.

My other alternative would be to try other bell housings which so far 2 others were not a match.

I dont see why it wouldnty be strong enough. Why dont you make a bracket to go inbetween one of the bell housing bolts to the block like a torque damper kind of idea. Or you can buy the inserts for stock mounts (or make your own with epoxy). That setup is amazing man. I have never seen one of that body style accords look.. nice. And form the looks of it yours looks pretty damn good.

I was considering that but i would think it would have to go towards the chassis closer to the frame rail. I will have to look into it some more i am just curious to see if anyone here has done something like this. I did epoxy my stock mounts which works well for the side mount but the design of the front and rear mounts allow for a lot of play and are a poor design to modify.

I didn't have a picture of my bell housing handy but here is one i found online.

The tabs sticking out are for the tranny cable bracket so i might be able to use those to in combination with some sort of a weld on portion.

Thanks i am trying to get back to where i left off 4 years ago when i blew the motor. I have a ways to go but the block is going to the machinist soon and i hope to have it boosted again sometime in the summer. I like having something different but i paid a premium as these motors are rare and a lot of stuff was custom or i went over kill. But it should be nice when i get it to where i want.

if it was me on my car i would just make a thick bracket that would go between the bolts and the bell housing, it would probably look a little better and if something happens to the tranny you wont have to go through the process again, you can just unbolt it from this one and bolt onto the new one

That is a possibility i want it to be close to the frame rails so it doesn't put to much weight/pressure on what ever i bolt or weld to the frame rail. If i can use steel the fab would probably be much cheaper than having something cnc'd that can be welded on the tranny housing.

I looked at my car and spare tranny housing today and my frame rail is about 5 1/2 inches away from the bracket holes. But after looking at my tranny housing i think that just two bolts would not be strong enough especially since they are only 10mm bolts and they run horizontal. My guess is the weight of the motor might sheer off the aluminum tranny housing.

So i will look into something that might bolt on as well as weld on near the edge of the housing.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
