Consequences of a ported head ?

I was wondering if their are any bad things that happen with a ported head with raised compression and also a ported inake manifold, ported TB, and a racing cam. What are some of the consequences for this added power?

Only negative consequence that I can think of is maybe higher emissions for smog check...
