Honda 2.3 vrs Acura 2.3
Does anyone know if a 1999 Acura CL 2.3 engine and a 1998-2002 honda Accord 2.3 engine are the same ? I need a engine for a CL and there are like a million honda engines out there. I found that the exhaust manifold , intake manifold , throttle body and injectors are different but need to confirm that the basic engine it the same.
Look at the engine codes for a direct replacement. If you change the engine codes youll more then likely change ecu's harnesses etc as well. The accord 2.3 is the F23a1 or a4. Not sure for the CL.
your CL should be a f23a1...same as a accord..which this motor should be dirt cheap.
just hope you dont need a tranny later...hard to find...$1400 in tennessee, but i found some in atlanta for $750 and drove and got one (unless its a 5sp, then its $200)

The CL engine is a F23A1 . I searched on car-part.com and call several salvage yards direct and none of them offer the Accord engine as a replacement for the CL . Just want to confirm the basic engine will work ( changing the intake , exhaust , throttle body & etc. ) it sound like it will. Thanks
An F23A1 is an F23A1 no matter if it's Honda or Acura.
Your local salvage yard guys need to get there heads out of their *****. When you call ask them if they have any F23A1 engines. It doesn't matter if it's Acura or Honda, Manual or Automatic....all the same block.
