will i make it into the 12's?
Well long story short im just trying to decide right now if i should go all motor or go boost.. i already have a b16a3 swap with a lot of bolt on's but im ready to make some real power on my daily driver.. here are my 2 options.
~~~~~~~OPTION 1~~~~~~~~~~
-Ls block (already have)
-81.5mm CTR pistons (already have)
-Fully rebuilt 97 type r head (already have)
-blox valve train with type b cams (have not orderd yet)
-Skunk2 manifold (already have)
-Blox 68mm throttle body (already have)
-Bennen fuel rail (already have)
-hondata s200 (already have)
-all new gaskets,WP,Timing belt, Oil pump etc (still need to order)
- have not decided on a header yet
~~~~~~OPTION 2~~~~~~~~
keep my b16a3 thats already in my car and just throw 8-10psi at it and call it a day on a tune..
then order low comp pistons for my block and build a turbo block...
i have a lot of the parts for the all motor build already, but i also have a full turbonetics b series kit here.. soo help me decide!! PLEASE!!
id kinda rather have a all motor DD because of cops and less hassle.. and ive never had a good all motor car that made a lot of power (never built one) ive always just boosted my cars and called it a day..
do u think with my 1st option i could make it into the 12's? its guna be in a 93 civic coupe that is currently fully gutted in the rear with a 6 point cage.. well thanks for the info...
btw- wat would be a good all motor header to run thats not over priced? i currently have a DC 4-2-1 and i know im not making **** off of that..

I'ma BOOST Fan.
That All motor set up you're plotting although SICK, will not put you into the 12's, MAYBE, if somehow u shed ALOT of weight, even then, by a stretch could u come closer to home goal.
Honestly? BOOST. For the money it yields greater results and would damn near promise you 200+ after a good tune, especially if u plan on building a turbo block, low compression pistons and the whole 9 then hell yea, you're well on ur way to the 12 goal.
But i'm biased, ever civic I own is Turbo, so is my Integra and Toyota so eh....just an opinion.
BOOST IT!!

X2 i say boost it quick easiy way on going 12's i went 12.87 on a bone stock ls with an all ebay turbo setup on 14 psi
put the rebuilt type r head on the ls block, with the skunk 2 mani and fuil rail and boost that with a good tune and turbo ull see 400whp all day lol aka 12's easy

BOOOOOOOST it. you will be mid 12's on a good tune easy w/ a .54 trim turbo. you will struggle getting there with the NA. plus boost you will still have more power for the money.

ALL MOTOR for the heart of it....BOOST for fast times!!!
option 1, low 13's in a coupe. It really depends on power to weight with N/A so remember that if you do go all-motor. The thing with all motor is the power is right at your finger tips and honestly, what gets me is the throttle response and quick revving of the motor but if you do it, dont half @ss it. You have a pretty mild all-motor build and i would say ditch the PR3'S(CTR pistons) and run some P30's. Those cams are a very good choice for that build IMO. Another good header is one from Vteckidd on here. just look him up in the performance section. I have heard nothing but good things about it.If you can, snag a blox intake manifold and use the extra $$$ and have it port matched prolly around 190-200 like typerman said. N/A is where its at but if you have a quarter mile goal and you are on a budget i say sell your b16a3 longblock, ls/vtec low comp like say 9.5:1 pistons, and some stout all motor cams with a nice turbo setup.

i ran 12.8 with just bolt ons gsr longblock with itr 4.7 trans ..the trans i dropped 4 10ths over a b16 trans ....the car weigh 2060 with me in it tho get a better header & some nice bolts ons with that ls stroke higher comression youll make it or should be damn close.

boost 4 sure if it is tuned right you will luv it...alot of people dont tune at all or have shity tunes and you hear about bad stories. I drive a 2000 si w a b20 boost w a 60 trim garret and i luv it. you can have a turbo honda and have very little problems.. boost 4 life....
x2 im in there with you. i seen simple OEM build that made @ 200 h/p , on stock heads. oem piston and oem cams.

option 1 with pistons will get you in the high 12s/low 13s on some 22X8X13 slicks.
I'm not much a fan of the B16 so the 1.8 would be a better avenue to going faster, imho....
