help whats in this motor? h22a
so i recently bought a '92 civic eg hatch, vx model, with an early h22a.
i got this car from a friend, who knew nothing about whats been done to the motor. so now im trying to find out whats inside like cams and ecu.
this is what i know:
vtec at 5500
redlines above 8 not sure where
ecu not too sure gonna crack this tomorrow check it out, has a bunch of stickers on it.
has aem cam gears, but the cams are unknown. there set +8*intake +1*exhaust. will check the timing once i can get a timing gun.
i played with the fuel pressure a bit cause it was fouling plugs like crazy, and spitting out raw fuel. now lowered, it feels a little gutless in the crossover, should i keep playing with it till i find a happy medium?
also are there any markings on the tops of the pitons to distinguish type s and regular pistons like there are on the nissan rb motors (sorry skyline guy)
and what should the compression (psi) be for a motor that has a type s piston upgrade?
please i would like to know your opinions before i move forward on this build, i don't want to have to buy cams, ecu, tuning and dyno time just so i can be at ease as to whats done to this thing.

Unless your friend knows what has been done there is no way to tell until you take it apart. All that's really important is that it is tuned, and in good mechanical condition. I would start with a compression test, then a tune.
k gonna run compression test tomorrow, whats healthy?
ive put 1000k on it so far n its running alot better than when i got it, was getting way to much fuel.
the reason im wondering is because 8int 1ext just sounds weird, n i dont wanna do damage before i grab cams n valvetrain.
