some times you will have to pry it off with a prybar or a big screwdriver, Just make sure not to damage anything when you do this, Or you can just grab ahold of the intake manifold and pull up like a ****, works everytime for me

its like a little tab looking thing.

is the intake mani completely off? If not don't forget about the bracket that bolts the manifold to the head to the block. My head was also hard to come off. I took off the dist. and pryed the head near the area with a small pipe. I broke the seal of the gasket but it still wouldn't come off. Then I stood the pipe on a jack underneath the car and wedged it under the head. I jacked up the pipe until some of the weight of the car was being held up by the head. The I pushed down on the car and the head popped off. I'm not saying this is the "right" way to do it but worked for me.

I had the same problem, if you think this is bad wait till you get it off and have to scrape the old gasket off it sucks ***. I used a big rubber mallet (hammer) whatever you want to call it, and hit in a couple different places then pryed it a little and off it came. Good Luck!!
