yo yo yo, if chu wanna build a all mota non-vtec you need to get a ported head first. then you need to put some crower 404's in it with valve train to match, also lookin to a p8r head.

I did the n/a non v thing for a while, its hard to make the car really fast without boost though

Head porting is a must to get power out of a non-vtec. A P8R head is best, or a very worked over LS head. Crower 404 cams and the valvetrain to match are a must as well. If the motor is a hardcore race engine Crower does make 405 race cams, but piston to valve clearance will become an issue.

Not gonna say by rule of thumb..but most of my club members have proven at least to me that if you're not going to go Vtec on your LS, and infact aim to keep it non-vtec, BOOST IT.

Headwork IS infact very essential, but you're not going to see MONSTER-FAST status on a non-tec LS without BOOST or really going ***** deep and rebuilding the thing crank on up, and even then it won't compare to what can be done with A Tune + Boost+ Awesome headwork.

Imho i'd go vtec man, I tried the No-tec set up on my LS prior to tec'ing it, and now having a LS-TEC/Turbo I could never dream of driving around non-tec again.

here's my two cents

FIRST, let me state that i have a PASSIONATE CONTEMPTUOS, LOATHSOME, ANIMUS and DETESTFUL DISLIKE (which is well documented) for the LS/CR VTEC!!!!

****I CANT BELIEVE I'M ABOUT TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT****

if you do not put a VTEC head on the B18/B20 block you will be denying yourself a LOT of power....... OUCH!!! THAT ACTUALLY HURT!!!!

because the non VTEC heads are....how shall i put this??.... ****!!

however, if money is no object and youve stated that you "WANT" something "OUT OF THE ORDINARY", there is an alternative.

****CONSIDER THIS****

how about resleeving a B16A block to 85mm????

you will have the torque of an LS VTEC and the high RPM reliability of the B16A.
