87 Integra engine rebuild?
I am not swapping for now and keeping the engine I got in my 87 teg, I picked it up with a bad head gasket, and while I have it open and I'm fixing it, should i go ahead and get a rebuild kit, Pistons, rods etc for only about 200.00 or just do the head gasket and forget the rest. I did have a plan of doing some work to the engine, headers, intake, throttle body etc....maybe even boost, so while I'm in there should I swap it all?
What kind of shape is the rest of it in? There's probably a reason the head gasket blew, so you'll need to double check the head and block are still flat. If you don't rebuild the bottom, you should at least get the head cleaned and replace the valve stem seals while you've got it apart
I have an 87 also and they are very picky about gaskets. I haven't done a head gasket yet but all the other gaskets and such need to come from honda or acura. Pretty much every valve cover and other gaskets that have not come from there leak. Just a heads up
o man thanks this helps a lot, if i just bought any rebuild kit it would have leaked all over! thanks for the help, how is it running though?
