(and yes, I apologize for this being another damn "car wont start" thread)
I have a 93 EG Hatch w/ a GSR, and its been running fine for years, all of a sudden, now the car wont start. Its got a new battery. When I first turn the key's ignition the fuel pump does prime, and all the interior lights come on and work as normal. But then as I turn the ignition further to start the car, NOTHING HAPPENS at all, no cranking at all, no noises, no nothing. What could the problem be?
It wouldnt be the main relay since the fuel is being primed, right?
Also, I think the car might have given a bit of a warning a week ago, as I think it didnt start right up the first time once or twice. But now nothing.
Help! Thanks!

Check the areas marked in red.
First verify you even have 12v at the starter check the 7.5amp fuse under the dash it only goes to the ECU does not assist in cranking. Check Clutch pedal safety so its not corroded. Do you hear a click when you try and start the starter? You main relay can be repaired if it is failing.

First thing I would do is a "bypass jump", connect a jumper lead, [14-12 gauge min. although a jumper cable can be used] to the pos.(+) terminal of the batt., touch the other end to "trigger" terminal of solenoid, [unplug the black/white lead at starter motor solenoid and touch jumper to the terminal].
BE CAREFULL, make sure car is in neutral, engine WILL CRANK, [and start if ign. switch is in RUN position], if starter motor and solenoid are good.
If engine cranks, you will need to check the "Clutch Interlock Switch" and starter relay, [5 speed] or the "Automatic Gear Position Switch, [automatic] there is also the possibility it is the ign. switch, it can be tested at the ign. switch harness. 94

Fcm,
I did the bypass jumper just the way you described and the car started right up, so I guess the starter works fine. So I guess this means that the problem is either Clutch Interlock Switch, Ignition switch, or the starter relay(is this the same as the 'main' relay or power relay?)...? Thanks.

the plastic piece on the clutch pedal was broke, found it all crumbled up on the floor mat. I replaced it and the car still wont start. Do I just need to reset the clutch interlock switch now, or can this be done? What should I check now.
And the starter works fine, i can 'manually' start the car anytime by using a jumper betwn the starter and battery, and the car starts up fine. When I turn the key to start up, I hear the click, the fuel primes fine for a few secs, then the cel goes out on queue, so I think the main/PGMFI harness works fine.
HELP!
