The lower one. The LCA has the spring and shock assembly attached to it, hence it carries the weight. The upper ball joint simply holds the knuckle in place in regards to camber.

If this ball joint is damaged would the front be a little bumpy?

Driving on any damaged ball joint is bad, and likely to produce issues driving the car. Bumpy, uncontrollable, random steering, wandering back and forth, and many other symptoms, can all be caused by a bad ball joint.

The wheel is held to the hub by 4 (or 5 for some) bolts, while the knuckle is held with only 2 ball joints. You can lose a lug and be ok (debatable), because there are at least 3 more still there, but if a ball joint goes...

when i move the wheel left to right quickly at a complete stop i hear a light clunk sound. could this be a loose/worn ball joint? does your teg make this noise too? the boots arent ripped but the damage can be internal, right? also my car has excessive neg. camber, i think somethings bent (lower ball joint)..HELP!

It could be a bad axle as well... The axle could be damaged without the boot be torn. I had the same issue, crazy negative camber and clunking as I moved the wheel or just driving in a straight line. Double check all moving parts as well... GL

huh, never thought about the axles being bad..how can i check these? my old setup was skunk2 springs and skunk2 shocks. the shocks have a shorter body than oem style shocks, so my car was too low in the front. the ride was horrible too. i recently switched to koni street shock, and neuspeed race springs. the ride got better, but it looks like the shorter shock f*cked something up. my front camber is -2.2L -2.4R, rear camber is in spec. i was suspecting lower ball joints, but now am not sure..damn you skunk2!! also when i look at cars that are lower than mines there front wheel camber is more positive than mines, and they're not running any camber kits, so i know something must be bent.
