Default 4th-gen timing belt auto-tensioner for H22A

Who knows how to figure this thing out?

I'm trying to get it compressed so I can put the timing belt back on.

By the way, when I move the rubber boot back, I notice oil coming out of it. Is this a good/bad thing? I'm assuming it's bad.

I appreciate your help, thanks!

you need a special tool to get it compressed from what i understand. what i did was just convert from auto tensioner, to manual tensioner. find 2point6 on here, scott will be able to help you out with the conversion...

yeah converting to h23 will be so much easier in the long run. taking off and putting on timing belts will be so much simpler. but if you don't wanna do that, take the small bolt off the bottom of the tensioner and unscrew the screw. that will compress it. then you need to put a holder on it to hold it compressed so you can reinstall it. you prolly need to buy this tool from honda, i made it out of scrap metal i had laying around. (that was before i converted to h23 tensioner). if you need any more info just IM me.
