Default Auto Tensioner

I've got a 5th gen lude, and the auto tensioner doesn't work properly. My timing was off so I have to take off everything to get to the auto tensioner. This time the damn thing wouldn't extend out all the way after the screw was turned back to bring it back in. So the timing belt never got tighter. I thought that I heard there was a problem with the 5th gen auto tensioner? Does anyone know about this?

Yes, there has been a recall for the autotentioner in the 5th gens. I'd replace it to the manual tensioner from the older H23 motor to prevent any future mishaps.
