I'm stumped! The drivers side door on my del sol just will not unlock from the inside or outside. Has anyone had this problem before? What did you do to fix it?

 

common... most likely your prop rod has detached, or your door latch requires replacement or adjustment.. start by pulling the door panel and verifying all prop rods are connected, if they are you will need to pull the door latch off and see if you can lube/adjust it, if not it will need to be replaced

 

Sounds like a seized door latch. If you ever get it open, soak the latch mechanism in WD-40 or some Silicone Lubricant Spray, it worked quite nicely for me.

 

So i pulled the drivers door panel and the lock rod is just stuck. It won't move in either direction. So how exactly do i get the door handle off?

not the handle, the latch.... should be held on by 3 brass looking bolts.. its kinda a PITA to get out lol.

soak it in wd40 for a while lol

 

It is kind of a PITA to get out, but doable.

Does the car have power locks? I had this problem on mine, and thought it was the latch, so I junkyarded one. Come to figure out that there was nothing wrong with the latch, but the power door motor had seized up, which was preventing the locker on the latch to move.

Back to the junkyard, picked up a power lock motor. Total expenditure for both was about $11.

The power lock motor is the little plastic doohickey that is attached to the latch with some ganky looking screws.
