1999 Accord V6 AT Woes
Last week my tranny starting slipping and thudding into second gear with Check Engine light coming on. AAMCO said it was poor flow due to torque converter separation and would be $1600 to $2400. I had AT fluid changed and check engine light stayed on and drove fine for a couple of hours, then started same thing. I pulled the linear solenoid out below the battery and one of the tube vents had a brown thin paper-like blockage. Cleared blockage, check engine light goes out (probably due to battery disconnection), and drove about 10 miles perfectly and then check engine light comes on abruptly and immediately starts slipping in all forward gears. I am going to attempt to locate the shift solenoid, which supposedly is on the bottom near the engine/tranny connection, and clean the screen and hopefully test the solenoid. I am also going to replace whatever fluid the quick change guys put in with geniune Honda. I am also disconnecting the battery again before I head home from work to see if the reset did more good than clearing the blockage. How do you test the solenoids and what else should I try before calling the junkyard to come get it? No way I am putting $2k into this.
Thanks for your time!
