Well I finally got my drag hatch to the track. The car is a Ls/Vtec setup on Ectune making 501hp/345tq on 29psi on a dyno that reads about 10% lower then 99% of other dynojets, lol. The car weighs 1876 with me in it. I am running a 24.5 tire with a jdm y1 cable trans with a welded diff. Second gear is locking me out so I can't "bang" that gear but it will go just have to clutch and give it a second. The vid will show that, lol. I hit the limiter in 4th before I crossed the finish line. Trying to debate whether or not to do a S1 trans and see if it will help put the power down or hurt me. I am loving my 60fts but it just starts to spin after that. We are going to put some more height in the rear to hopefully get her to hook. The tire pressure was only about 8psi so I can go lower there as well. Here is a timeslip breakdown of my best pass. This was on about 18psi in 1st and 2nd and 29psi in 3rd and 4th.
60-1.599
330-4.737
1/8-7.210
mph-104.4
1/4-10.851
mph-139.1
Here is a breakdown of the pass in the vid. This was a 29psi pass the whole track.
60-1.583
330-4.696
1/8-7.191
mph-104.1
1/4-10.929
mph-135.4

Well let me know what you guys think on tranny options and any other suggestions would be great. Based on the info once its lined out what do you think it is capable of at the current power. Thanks.

9500 is what the limiter is set at. It may of been breaking loose but I also was wondering where the y1 would run out of gear in 4th mph wise?
Those times look just like mine except i can't cut anything better than a 1.7 60ft. Just keep working on those other shifts and you'll get your times down there!

Yea I believe getting the tire pressure down will help alot. They weren't really even wrenkled yet where the car is so light. I was planning on making some more passes that day but the track was packed so I only got like 4 or 5 in. Being the first time out I was afraid to take them too low while I was still learning the car but I feel pretty comfortable in it now. Does anyone think a S1 with a longer gear would help or should I stay with the y1 for now. Im trying to decide on what to do over the winter improvement wise.

mfactory has a good calculator to mess with, remember that your tires grow a bit at the end of the track.
i switched from the jdm b16a trans to a hydro gsr trans and my et's were pretty much exact, same boost etc.... i just have more room now when i make more power.
seat time is key, being that the car is new, etc... those et's will drop with practice. dropping the boost in 1st gear would help your traction issues. get your boost settings right for each gear and your times will drop hard.
if your spinnnig hard ride the limiter in first a bit to let the tires catch up that way it wont bog when you shift to second.
lets see this beast!

what are your intake air temps with that water to air IC? i was thinking about trying that setup but was curious of how well that particular IC works.

On the 500hp pulls the IAT's were showing and holding right around 90 degrees I believe. Either way it works really well and your tune will be spot on as long as you keep ice in the tank. Your not having to play with outside conditions anymore really tune wise because the ice water is pretty consistent IAT wise. I can get a full pass and burnout on a tank of ice. Installation was a piece of cake. This setup came from www.frozenboost.com and I am really happy with it. My only complaint is getting used to the lid on their tanks, if I would change anything it would be that. Once you get used to it though its fine, just a lil picky sometimes, lol.

The lid is a screw on type and fine thread so when you put it on you have to turn it the opposite way to line it up and then crank it on the right way. If you don't do that it wants to try and cross thread and a pain in the neck but as long as you do that lil trick its fine. No the car does not have wheelie bars. It does have a single axle rear though, and I'm using skunk 2 drag coilover setup with tokico shocks. We corner balanced the weight on the front tires with me in it to within a 1lbs of each other at my shop. On my 1.58 60ft the 2 step was only at 6000, were gonna raise it and lower tire pressure and shoot for 1.4 60fts.
1.58 60ft is awesome, once you get your tranny issues sorted and some more dialing/seat time your et's will drop a lot i'm sure.
which straight axle are you using? did you cut out the rear subframe as well?

I would go with a hydro gsr trans, using the hasport mechnism in place of the slave. Very nice 60's though. Has your current tranny been apart at all? I'm thinkin the synchros might not be installed correctly, or possibly a shift fork, causing your 1-2 lockout.
good to see brian's car went to a good home. if im not mistaken dave, the car has an mb products solid rear axle in it.
keep up the good work man, glad to see that car being put to good use.

yeah you just need some time in it is what it seems like and sort out the boost. your 60's are far better than ours and your trap is similar to ours, but your 1/8 time and trap are significantly slower and the 1/4 et is slower. first half is killing ya. you are getting out well but then between the 60 and the 1/8 you are losing a lot. looks like its just a matter of being smoother in the short track. quicker into gear, makes a big difference. play with the boost (im assuming you have a solenoid for that....if not get one). less is more sometimes in the first half of the track. we keep the spinning to a minimum...at the threshold of the tires the entire way. that helped us out a lot. get that 1/8 down to the 6's and the trap around 110 and the car takes care of the rest of the track for you and at 139 its clearly capable of doing work. good stuff man.
