Icon2 EJ1 with shaved side moldings...

These pictures are not of my car. I saw them somewhere and it had side molding holes in it originally, so I 'shopped the holes out because I wanted to see an EJ1 with shaved/welded side molding holes. I am not talking about shaving the indentations, just the holes where the tabs slide into. I've never seen it done on any model of coupe, only the CX and VX hatchbacks appear to have this "feature". If you have done this to your coupe, please post some pictures!

What does H-T think would look better? JDM thin moldings, USDM thick moldings, or shave the holes from the indentations? If you want to keep the side moldings, which version? Would you paint them, or leave them black?

Hmm I kinda like the shaved look but it just look incomplete without the moldings...I'd have to do thin ones..

thin if you keep the channel but if you want to shave take it all out. its clean with a shaved channel but its obvious that is missing something. if your going to shave it might as well do it all the way...

This I don't like. Plus it looks sorta odd b/c you didn't shave the fenders.....

Super rice to shave the molding on a car that doesn't have it as OEM, ie type R.

Save you self the effort and money.

thin side moldings FTW. they look nice flush to the body.
no moldings looks ok but not on a coupe. makes it seem like some thing is missing.

shaving the moldings completely off a civic gotta be the most retarted thing some one can do to a civic!
EFFIN! ugly

fully shaved moldings, like the hatches posted above, is ugly in my opinion. but filled side moldings, like what came on the vx or the cx or whatever, looks really clean

Do you have any pics? EK coupe is a really similar shape to the EJ1.

Any more of the green one? That's the look I'd like to see more of.

What about a partially shaved door, like the ITR has? Something to break up the lines of the smooth door. Here's another shop of what it would look like.

Hmm, never seen anybody do that on an eg before. Not really sure how I feel about the partially shaved yet, it looks a lot better than fully shaved (completely flat panels) though. If I were you, I'd go with the filled moldings, like what comes on the hatches

I personally got a soft spot for thin moldings, but to each their own. It's your car, do what you want.

Either thin moldings, or just the holes welded up - never the whole molding filled in.. it just looks weird and ugly IMO.
