Default attention all tech pros.

i need some technical advise outside what my friends tell me, just because i want to see if there is anything different that i haven't been told already.

i want to put my car on the track (circuit/roadcourse) for this year but didn't finish suspension and brakes yet...

i have a 98 gsr set up, except due to frying my rings last summer the motor was pulled in feburary and i had it mildly built,.....
with the following usdm brand new 98 ITR interals;
- complete valve train
- cams
- pistons/rings (oversized)
- connecting rods
- and a fuel pump.

the gsr head was just resurfaced,
the block was machined, bored and honed.
nothing special no port & polishing etc...
as i was on a tite budget,
then everything was reassembled.

every thing is fine car runs great can't complain,
but i am aware it can do more, because i'm still using
the gsr intake manifold and the stock gsr ecu .
I LOVE MY TORQUE for my day to day use, but i hate my top end and if i start circuit racing that is where i know i'll lose out big time.

unfortunately when the original stock gsr setup was installed the car was wired ob2II as at the time i couldn't find an obdI ecu for the life of me and a harness was just way to expensive,.... which i know this is somewhat as a downfall, but I still believe @ WOT it really doesnt matter, anyways,...back to my point

i want to know is there any other alternative and especially less costly option to make up my top end besides changing my intake manifold to a modded ITR or a skunk2? and changing my ecu to an obdII ITR computer?
cuz thats what i was originally thinking of doing as i know that the actual rebuilt set up is basically an R now without the manifold/ecu.

its gonna cost me over $1000 canadian to buy an skunk 2 and itr ecu, and i'm looking if there is any other cheaper alternative, at the same time not losing so much torque.....

i remember a friend selling an obdI gsr computer chipped with a program that still uses both butterflies and still dumped more air and fuel,.... this sounded like a great option to me as i think i'll keep my torque and still develope some top end with out changing the manifold, i mean the wiring doesn't cost me that much and the computer would cost me just under $500.... how does this sound????

**** i just don't know anymore,
i'm not much of a tech, is there
anyone who can list any other
options or give any other type
of advise?

i'm obviously looking for something not too expensive,
and at also something that i won't hurt my bottom end too much either....

please and thanks in advance.

not even i am going to read ALL of your post!!!

but i will tell you this:

got the track FIRST then decide what you need.

and maybe after about 10 visits you might have a good idea.

it sounds like you have a great setup anyways!!!

if you wanna tip - get GOOD tyres and suspension - this will help more than any "top end" performance improveing intake!!!!!!!!

HTH,

t..
