Default PrecisionAutoCanada.com Pro1 VS Pro2 Dynotest

2 month ago a friend with a B18c engine, ask me if Pro2 could be better on his, setup. I tell him, that with a stock head, stock pistons, and I think pro1 are better but we make a test

here is the setup
integra 1990
b18c Spec R JDM engine
stock pistons
stock head
stock valves
Milled to reach 11.8:1
Skunk2 cams Pro 1 and 2
Skunk2 Pro series Springs/retainers
Skunk2 Pro intake manifold
Skunk2 Pro series 68 mm Throttle body
Custom AEM CAI 3''
DSM 450 cc injectors
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
RMF Narrow replica header (ported)
open header
Tuned with Sunoco 260GTX fuel
OBD-1
tuned by Myself with eCtune Pro Tuner

here is the test between both cams
I retuned everything after the cam change (cams settings, fuel, ignition, the car stay on the dyno during the cam change, so the alignement on the dyno didn't move.

Red is Pro1
Blue is Pro2

I never seen other test about it

good test! Just goes to show that the Pro2's can still make good power on a mildly modded setup.

Impressive, thanks for taking the time to share this. Brings back memories of the Tbone testing days.

Tbone used to testing on various camshafts all time along with B19coupe as well and share the information to us all. I don't think he ever tested these two though in a comparsion test. Thanks for taking the time to post your results, very few do now of days unless they make "decent" numbers.

$20 says Pro3's would've made more power everywhere, and pushed the peak engine speed higher too.

What were the final cam timing numbers for both setups? Close to the Skunk2 recommended settings?

Thanks for the post, definately in-line with what I would have guessed. It is interesting that the peak HP RPM did not increase. This is probably because of the cylinder head.

pro2's just plain rock. they have to be the best cam for a all motor B series EVER! i mean my old 1.8 ls/v would spin the tires rolling into it @ 4500 rpm's. they produce such good midrange power.

The 225whp/154trq you have in your sig is from the PRO 2's? Impressive.

Garrett
Would you happen to have the torque curve available to share? I'd like to see how flat the curve is if possible.

^^ i am assuming you mean 10k miles. well i had roughly 7-8k miles on my pro 2's using the same head between 2 different bottom ends and not a single sign of any pad/rocker wear. a good valve lash adjustment goes a long way i guess.
