to run carbs
im lookin to run a carb setup, some insight on places i can find a crank trigger, or can i use the stock distributor, or what would be a cost effective way to get the car to run with a carb, thanks any insight or help would be appriciated
ive run sidedrafts on a sohc and i just used the stock dist. when you dont run the fuel injection stuff it throws a cel for the disconnected items so you have the advance the dist to get the ign timing back because it will be running in limp mode. you will probably have to slot the dist. then just put the dist where the enging likes it on the dyno. that is the cheap way to do it.
the better way to do it would be to run a crank trigger or pickup and set ign timing up that way. at the time i think i was looking into ford EDIS and megajolt. maybe you can search around and find some info out on that stuff if it is still around
what engine and what carbs are you looking at running?

lots of good info in this thread...even if it is from 2003.

You would be better off in the long run using an aftermarket ignition system.
true but you can get it running with the stock ign stuff. get the carbs sorted out and then convert the ign system. then you will only be chasing one thing at a time.
but whatever you want to do.
