Default SFWD VS. T/S QUESTION

Whats up HT, I'm looking to build my ek for the summer coming and was wondering which one to build around. Basically my question is what are the regulations between the 2, I don't want to build my car and then not able to compete because of lack of something. I'm new to competing in the classes but not new to turbo applications, I just don't know what the rules and regulations are between them like turbo size and cage regulations ect. Well thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction, hopefully I will be there with some of you guys next season.

Yeah i dunno about Turbo Street, Thats just basic rules for SFWD, I would wait and see if they pass the new class TRUE STREET first it is/and would be an awsome class check the board for the new true street class
no problem

Well seeing that you're from Northern Va, I'm assuming you plan on running at MIR events? When you say T/S, are you refering to True Street or Turbo Street from the old NDRA series? The biggest differentials is turbo size, 67mm vs. 72mm. Here are links to the rulebook.

why is everyone affraid of sfwd now with a class that really isnt at every event?

its great that the MIR events have a true street structure. truth is, the honda days, and other 1 day events around the north east, probably wont have both classes.

so do this.

if you want to build a true street car, build it learn it, have fun, and try to run with the big dogs.

im running out of breath with this,
YOU CAN RUN SFWD WITH A TRUE STREET CAR!.

i have been doing it for 3 years.
and dan made it to the finals at the fall nationals in sfwd.

dont let this dictate the car you will build.
build the car you want to build. but stay with in your budget.
dont swing for the fences and mess yourself up financially.

it is funny now that true street has popularity no one knows what class car to build.

again, build your car the way you want to and go race. learn the car enough to be competitive.

Only thing I'm afraid of is spending too much money building a car for sfwd. Now that you mention I can run a true street car in sfwd, I never really thought about it. I'm deffinately looking into a build soon and will take my time to get it right. Thanks

i agree, if you build the car to T/S specs then you can run both classes and get more chances to race.

These are the classes i'm personally trying to keep my car legal for....

NSCRA FWD Radial
IMSTAR True Street
IFO Forced Induction Sport
BOTI Street Comp
NHRA SFWD rules

This means full interior from front seats forward, 24.5" slicks or DOT radials, max 67mm turbo (for me, i understand some of these classes allow 72mm or have no limit), air to air intercooler, no lexan 2400/2500 lbs etc etc. I believe that a 67mm setup can be competitive in all of these classes or at least enough to make it worth my while to run in them.

It would be nice if all of the sanctioning bodies had the same rules so we could build a car to a certain spec, have numerous places to race throughout the season and perhaps all meet up at a central track for a season ending "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP" event. The classes are close enough that you can build a car already but it would be nice to have the rules all the same.

my setup is basic, i didnt skimp on everything, and didnt kill the budget on everything.

it is your basic sleeved block, good internals, decet cams, minor port work, good fuel system, i did spend a little on suspension, still a basic full race stage 3 pro street T3 kit. the clutch is a little high, but it is better to spend money on that because it will bite you in the *** if not chosen properly.

safety gear can get you. if you want to be competitive in true street / sfwd, i didnt say win, but to run average, you will need a 10pt cage and everything associated. lic, jacket, pants, helmet, collar/hans/gloves, window net/ harness/ kill switch etc. these things can add up.

set yourself a budget, look around, you dont need a baller turbo, baller setup, just do what you can, learn your setup, and when the race comes around, register, attempt to qualify, remember as long as you stage, and get a green, anything can happen. we werent the fastest at e town that day, the cards just fell into place.

dont make it a mission because if you run into obsticles, you will get frustrated and give up.

build your car the way you can, and have fun eph it if you dont qualify, run brackets.

to me,half the fun is seeing everyone and getting on their nerves. hahaa.
