Icon2 my accord stalled/died while driving - PLEASE HELP -

i just bought a 99 accord v6 automatic last week, car runs and drives like new. BUT today, i was coming home from work, sitting at a red light, and the car just died, so i put it in park, tried to start it, it cranked, but wouln't start, then the 3rd time it finally did. So im driving, no problems, for next like 20 miles, went to walmart, left walmart and car started up no problem. Then about 4 miles later i was going like 40 on a road and the car died in motion, so i pulled over, and it started right up for the first time. PLEASE HELP, what could it be? Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like something electrical, could be something getting hot, creating resistance and then suddenly stops working.
Other than that, how does the car perform?

Possible ignition switch problem.

^ word, i was gonna say it could be the ignition switch. its a recall so it should be replaced for free at the dealer. had mine done for its 2nd time earlier this year.

i took it to the dealer 2 days yesterday morning and this is what i was told when they ran the vin number..the guy i bought the car from got the ignition switch replaced october 27th 2009, about a week before I bought it from him..... so im pretty lost and not sure what to do. They wanted to charge me hundred bucks for a diagnosis and if it was that again, they would replace it for free and refund me for the diagnosis.

Well, it is a personal safety issue, so, you might have to bite the bullet and let them do the diagnosis.

I wouldn't suspect the ignition switch to have gone bad so soon already if it had been replaced in October 2009. The igniter can also cause stalling problems. Read this link here to see what symptoms are closest to yours:

I had the EXACT same problem. The car would just die while being driving, then 30-45 minutes later it would start again. I just got a new distributor altogether and solved the problem.

Heat build up and Humidity. I had my coil go bad and did similar issues on new engine swap. The next time this happens do a spark check.

When First read your post I thought something similar to redbull-1.

It's most likley your ignition switch, the little springs get worn out within time, change it or else you don't wanna be cruising the freeway and your car dies, just like mine did....

I would say PGM-FI main relay with a cracked/open solder or your ignition switch. I'm pretty sure it is not the ignitor. Once the ignitor goes it's gone. The ignitor is not an intermitent problem like you are describing.

5 months later, i've had the car repaired 3 times, due to it dying all the time. the ignition switch was replaced, 2 days later, car died. Took it back, mechanic said he found a melted wire by the ignition somewhere so that was the actual problem, replaced the whole harness. 1 week later, car died. Took it back again, guy was testing it for a whole month figuring out what it is, finally came to a conclusion that it was the fuel pump(said he tested out the fuel pump and it tested bad). He replaced the fuel pump, and assured me that it wont die again, said he drove it numerous times and everything is good. check engine and maintenance light turned off, so im like hmm maybe this is really it, car is fixed good to go. The same fkin day that i got the car back, i'm sitting at a red light, then as soon as it turns green, i hit the gas, and it dies!! i couldn't help but to start laughing my *** off ... it took a good 10 cranks for the car to catch and turn on... then next day it happened again, same exact way, at a red light, then when it turned green i hit the gas and it stalled. i took it back to the shop, guy couldn't believe it, especially since he only charged me a 100 for the ignition switch job, and whatever after that was free. anybody have any ideas left what this piece can have wrong w it? this cars a curse..
