Default Just painted my VC

I decided to change the color of my valvecover yesterday. I had to make cuts for my adjustable cam gears anyway so I figured what the hell. It was red so I changed it up and went with a dark grey. Enjoy!

Before clear

Notice the cam gear cuts

Not bad.

Probably should have covered/sanded down paint on the raised DOHC and HONDA MOTOR COMPANY

That's how I had it before so I went with something different. I like it because at a glance all you see is the VTEC. The DOHC blends in a bunch.

It's decent. I would have chosen a brighter/darker color but that's my preference.

Once I get the motor back in I'll take a pic so you can see it against everything else.

I painted mine for the first time too, while I had the VC off for my cam install:

I like painted VCs. It gives people a chance to express themselves however they want without worrying about being flashy or ostentatious. Of course, if you prefer the factory finish, it's easier that way!

To the OP, there's a painted VC thread in the paint & body forum. You should add your pics when you're done. There's lots of cool VCs on that thread.

I used a rattle can of high-temp engine. They recommend spraying the color over bare metal. This is my 2nd time to do this and the 1st one lasted 3 years til I stripped it.

^ I don't think I've seen the VC thread. I'll have to check it out!

Link to said thread? I searched and came up with nothing. I would much like to see some ideas.

OP, here's the link. It is actually now at the top of the paint and body but it's not stickied so it often drops off the first page:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...62165&page=322

There are lots of really cool VC's, but I prefer the simpler, cleaner ones. There's about 60 pages on the thread but it's worth a look, esp. at the end, to see the creative things people have done.

@a97b18b, LOL yeah, my bay is nasty. I was thinking I'd clean when I get a header.

I'm looking forward to seeing the OP's when it's installed. I think that color will look cool when it's in.
