BOTI - OUTLAW COMP CLASS - NEW FOR 2010
The Battle of the Imports will be offering a new class for the 2010 season. “After closely observing the last few seasons, we have noticed the need to address the existing Street Comp class and decided it was time to add an Outlaw version,” commented Frank Choi, National Event Director. The new class will be called Outlaw Comp.
Thanks to CTRParts.com, Midnight Performance Race Clinic and RTO Specialties, this class will be offered as a beta class at the 2009 season finale event at the Auto Club Dragway located in Fontana, CA this Sunday November 22, 2009.
The basic rule structure will mirror the existing Street Comp class with the following changes:
Turbochargers will be restricted to a maximum size of 72mm.
Air to water intercoolers will be permitted.
Maximum size for drive tires will be 26-inches tall and 10-inches wide. “W” tires are not permitted.
Minimum weight with driver is 2,400 pounds.
For 2010, the traditional Street Comp class will also have the following minor changes:
Turbochargers will be restricted to a maximum size of 67mm.
Air to air intercoolers only.
Maximum size for drive tires will be 25-inches tall and 9-inches wide. “W” tires are not permitted.
Minimum weight with driver is 2,200 pounds.
“The addition of the Outlaw Comp class will bring more parity to the already competitive Street Comp class,” added Choi. Additional rules will be announced in the near future.

we are glad to be involved in this new era frank. 20 years and still going strong, this will be alot of fun next year! I have spent alot of time working on this with frank i hope everyone enjoys the new classes!
Nice, I'm excited to see this!
I'm glad to see the Street Comp class being kept to 25", air-to-air, and 67mm with the lower weight limit for next year.
We have a ton of guys up here that would love to run this class but can't afford to build the level of car it takes to compete with the cars currently in S/C that are already very close to the Outlaw format.
On that note, I personally would love to be able to run my D16 in the S/C class next year and be able to be somewhat competitive with the B-series guys in the class. Is there any possible way that we could get a 100lb weight break (2100lbs) for the D16 engined guys so that we can compete? I know for a fact that allowing this would bring the field counts and attendance up tremendously. There are tons of guys building the lower budget D16 platform that would actually step it up and run a heads-up class if it made sense for them to even try.
I have spoken to Frank about this in the past but it didn't really go anywhere at the time. Hopefully now is the right time!
Quick question though - who is going to be competing in this "beta" Outlaw class at Fontana with 3 days notice?
You can't just throw some 26's on a S/C car setup for 24.5's at the last minute and expect it to work well, otherwise we'd do it!

this class is to benifit the up n coming generation to be able to come out and compeate on the lower budget, i believe there will be further rule revisions to keep this class competitive and have pairity at all boti races!
IMSTAR's True Street class rules already have a weight provision for the sohc cars, with an extremely generous "no weight limit". It would be great if BOTI would do something similar to allow the even lower budget D-series guys to compete as well, as you just can't make anywhere near the same power levels with a D.
Whats the payout for these new Outlaw Comp? Not everyone wants to spend the extra money run this Outlaw class than making Street Comp run 67mm turbos next year is BS entry level races should in bracket classes even fast cars with smaller turbo are still fast.Chad is going to happen to CMI to next year???????????

I think this is an excellent step as well. I too would love to see thw 100lb weight break for the D series/SOHC guys. And possibly a race in the SouthEast/East Coast somewhere
This sounds great but a minimum weight of 2200 with driver? I am over 200lbs in an integra. Kinda hard to compete with crx's. I say bring the minimum up to 2400 as well.
Im with JFK on this one help out the single cam folks this would bring a whole new following of people out to these events.....Damn I might just stick with the single lol
Hey Frank how much are these turbo companies giving you for a kickback on turbo sales?????? Its rediculous. So every year are we expected to see a turbo restriction so you can get a kickback when we all have to buy new turbo's?
What are you talking about kick backs? If you have a 72mm run the outlaw comp and if not run the 67mm class it just makes sense.
As far as the single guys getting a weight break, **** that. It will make it all to complicated at the scales. It was your choice to build a single cam, nobody elses. There should be one weight for the class. One weight for all cars, weather its a b, k , neon, whatever. It is up to you to make your combo work.
I do think 2200lbs is to light as it should be somewhere along the lines of 2400lbs.

The D's need a weight break, it just makes sense to increase the car count.
Don't tell me your worried about getting beat by.... a single cam....?

I'll wait to compete in this class next year.
