OK so when I start it up it idles at almost 1500 I shift into drive or reverse (its an auto) and the idle chills just about 1000 then when i shift back to park or neutral it bounces between 700 and 1200 but if I shift back into gear it settles down bout 1000 again any ideas would be a great help it has over 200k on the clock and Im really just trying to get it reliable right now thanks much

 

i have a manual and its does this when its cold for a bit.. not right away usually the first stop in the morning till about thge second or third stop then its normal.. does it do it after it warms up?

thanks im gonna check the iac valve and let you know if that was it but i havent gotten it up to operating temp yet because im rebuilding the front end and dont have wheels or anything on it right now
