So my buddy bought a 94 civic with a z6 in it... and went to replace the valve cover gasket all went well until he went to go put the VC back on. 2 of the threads in the head were stripped.. where the red circles are. The threads that the bolts go into wont tighten down the bolts

has this happened to any of you? any suggestions to fix???

Re-tap it. I done it on my civic where the previous owner broke the bolt head off.

 

Do you know where I could get the tool to re tap, and the bolt right size i'd need in order to do so?

 

You can get the tap set at any hardware store. Just match the size and threads with one of your other bolts. I don't recall the size i used but it worked like a charm =]

If the bolt is still in the head then you need to purchase a Ez-out kit also. I buy mine from either sears or lowes.
