Used Turbo pistons? Please chime in, Need GURUS**HELP
Ok i had recently purchase these used Wiseco pistons and scat rods. It was used supposedly 5kmiles. Anyways everything looked good but when i got home and took a better look at it. Two of the four pistons had little ticks on the top of the pistons. I am wondering if it would be a big problem if i install them? Please give me your advice thanks in advance guys.

looks like its had some detonation witch means that they have had some stress put on them i wouldnt use them with them marks the one in the first pic that sharp nick would make a hot spot witch u could probley get out with sanding it smooth but the 2nd one is bad. Let me ask you this whats your power goal ??? and what motor/turbo setup??
hot spots... no bueno, its hard to tell how bad they are from the photos, but I have cleaned some up like that before.
^^Thanks guys. Yea thats what i heard, that these are probably cause by detonation, and it will be bad to use them but i just wanted some of you guys imput.
My power goals are 300-330hp on LS b18b-turbo. Probably something like 16psi lbs of boost. **Also do you guys think i can take this to a machine shop and have them try to fix them? or call the guy i bought it back from and get my $$ back? Please let me know thank you.

your going to tell me that the sharp little nick wont make a hot spot on the piston lolol just like the old cp's did with the thin valve reliefs. And ya if you never had to fix this then take them to a shop and have them smooth them out
Ok should i take it back to the guy i bought it from or should i just try to fix it.? I mean if its fixable i might just keep them but if its better off to get my $$ back then thats what i will do. Any imputs guys? thanks

^^ yes i got a pretty good deal, but i know where he lives and for him to say these pistons are mint meaning dont need any machine work. Yes its my fault for not looking more carefully but I just want some of you guys opinion if its worth getting it machine worked or Not?
Best option would be to get your money back. Next would be to try and fix em.
Better to get some brand new pistons than ending up with used ones that might not be fixable.

i've seen worse run perfectly fine. if they were cheap and and still measure out to be good then i would slap those in no problem. sand/smooth out the high/rough spots and they will be good to go.
just let them break in
they will groved in ur cylinder eventially
jk
probaly can fix them up a little
dont look too bad though

Thanks for the advice. Yes i bought the gsr crank, girdle, scat rods, wiseco pistons for 380.00. So i think its a decent price. Anyways would there be a problem if the weight difference of the pistons? I mean if sand down one piston it will be slightly lighter than the others, would that make a difference or its too small of a difference and it wont effect anything? j/w thanks again guys.

u are sanding down very very little
though id get some advice on this because this is some serious stuff ur doing
it will run and may not make a difference, but may throw off balance weraking some parts more
to me it sould seem it would make a very small difference that it wont matter
