Default D15B2 8 valve. How much can it handle?

Hey guys buying my first honda tomarrow. getting a 89 crx hf for 200. buying a d15b2 and trans for 100.

I plan on putting A (not the d15) motor and transaxle in the back and doing the mid engine rwd thing. looks fun

I've never had a honda but I'm familiar with toyota inline sixes.
I recently found a strong love for honda because of their simplicity, reliability, potential and low cost.

im looking forward to having a project car. now i can work on it, get it running, then build my daily driver. then switch it up again.

So I'd like to say sorry for even posting this question because i pry could have done more research, BUT I know there are those nice gear heads that will help with anything.

thank you

the engine and tranny have 230,000 miles....

how much hp can the little sohc 8 valve D15b2 motor hold? how much boost? (if any)
how about the tranny? anyone know what its good for off the top of your head?

Im just trying to figure out how much fun i can have with this motor without dumping money into it, So i can save every penny to do the rwd conversion.

thanks and sorry again to make a tread for this stupid question again
PEACE

D15B2's are a 16 valve. D15B6 is a 8 valve.

turbo motors like to breath. SOHC heads are fairly cheap. Ideally I'd say a VTEC head would be best. Even without VTEC engaging, it will flow better. Single cams handle boost fairly well from what I've heard. There are two guys in my city who have turbo'd SOHCs and one was running 22lbs on a built bottom end, but stock sleeves.

If you want the turbo motor to last more than like a month, you'll need engine management. Invest in decent stuff and turbo the RWD motor with it... Worst you can do is blow up the sohc and learn something.

D series transmissions have been bolted to H series (2.2-2.3 liter DOHC) motors making lots more power and even if one blows, they're cheap.

I'm only focusing on turbo because NA SOHCs are slow...period. Turbo is the best bang for the buck upgrade. A setup can be put together fairly cheap also, but I'd swap the head for a better one before turboing.

If you're serious about doing this, pm me. I have some parts you may be interested in.
