vss code 17 but speedo works fine?
hey guys, my 1995 accord ex sedan 2.2L vtec (5 speed) is throwing a code 17 for the vss, but the speedo is fine..any thoughts on what could be going on?
The VSS signal runs through a splice in the harness. The splice is probably loose. Instead of untapeing the harness. By-pass the "open". Tap into the wire at the speedometer and run a separate wire directly to the ECU at the VSS input.
ejvtec, I am having the same problem only my speedo doesn't work at all. I don't think I would by-pass the wire to the speedo to the ecu though. I have checked all my wiring for wear or a break and found nothing??? I am beginning to believe that I have a ecu problem on my car....

nevermind guys, my code is gone...weird...
Just replace the VSS under the intake. It will go bad pretty soon if it's having problems, mine was the same way. The part only cost $20, and only took 20 minutes to replace. All you need is a screwdriver, 12mm socket, and 20" of extensions.
