buy an alarm, it comes with a book showing all the connections to be made.
By a car manual helms/chilton etc. its electrical diagrams show your which color codes are for your car and where they are located. You could also tell us what car you have and most of us can supply oem wiring colors.
If your good at making electrical connections, have a full weekend to spare, and don't mind cramped tight spaces, take apart your fuse panel and start making connections, just make sure not to put your alarm in obvious (kickpanel) locations and take your time.

oh yea, and if you find installing a deck challenging, don't even bother attempting this (i'm serious..you'll go crazy..)

I agree, it's pretty challenging so don't attempt it if you're not up for a challenge. That being said, a basic alarm is really only 8-10 wires. Just plan everything out, run your wires neatly, are electrically sound and loom them. Make sure everything is hidden, siren inaccessible and alarm brain not under the driver's side dash. Two items to strongly consider are a battery backup and hood pin switch. What type of car is this?
Thanks guys...I'm pretty good with electricals....so I'll be up for the challenge...I can improve on my soudering (SP?) skillls.... (and maybe start working on my spelling skills)..haha..
anyways...this alarm is for my 240...so being that its an older car (89).....it should be slightly easier/less difficult to install hopefully...oh well...we'll see..Thanks Guys..
BTW, I heard that you dont use most of the wires on the alarm..is that true?
