Icon6 problems with Honda Civic 1.7 CTDi 2004

Hi All,

thanks for reading,

My civic has started to act wierd lately. while driving suddenly it seems like speed is locked at 35 to 40 mph.

pressing accelerator doesnt work, rev dont go higher than 3500. and speed sticks under 35 to 40.

i have tried changing gears, everything works as normal but just speed and rev dont go higher than above....

to get back to normal i have to turn engine off and turn back on after 2 to 3 min, turning back on straight doesnt help...

car has done this about 7 to 8 times in a month now...

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
K

--------------------------------------------
17:00 BST: I went to city and car did the same thing again but this time engine managment line came on... I turned car off and back on and it hasnt done after that but now engine managment light is constantly on...
--------------------------------------------
20:00 BST : i went out now and drove perfectly, no engine managment light at all... on my way back i though to test what speed will engine managment light shows...

i drove under 40 and all was fine, as i speed above 50 suddenly engine managment light came up. car didnt slow down or anything... i tried to speedup more and it worked perfectly... engine managment light only goes off if car is off for 20 or more minutes.

If you look in the FAQ's, there's a way to pull check engine lights without using an OBDII reader. https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/ecu-abs-codes-here-978933/

Or you could get it read for free at an auto parts store.

if the autoparts stores in the UK are anything like they are here in eastern Canada, it wont be a free scan.
We have 3 main stores here, Napa, Colonial, and Brownes, all 3 change a fee, ranging from $19.95 to to $29.95. Or you can go to the dealer and pay $59.95.

Me personally would take it to a trusted Garage, they may read the code for you free of charge.

Hi kaleem
You have to service you car because your problem with a engine oil and with other part of engine. So do not try to repair car yourself because i faced same problem and it is very hard to repair. My advice for you is that you have to go service station.

you have to get the code then repair whatever is wrong with the car. the car won't rev any higher because it's in limp mode to protect itself.
