Default ratio and meshing issues w/ hybrid B trans

I am building a B series trans out of 3 broken ones..

so far I have it mocked up and the issue is the gear ratios I end up with are OK on 1-3 but 4th and 5th are weird

counter shaft / main shaft = ratio
1st 42t / 13t = 3.23
2nd 40t / 19t = 2.105
3rd 35t / 24t = 1.458

here is what fits and meshes well

CS / MS = R
4th 31t / 30t = 1.033
5th 28t / 35t = .8

what I wanted but doesn't mesh well

CS / MS = R
4th 31t / 28t = 1.107
5th 25t / 35t = .714

my FD is 15t on CS and 66 on ring gear for a ratio of 4.4 this is good and meshes . the only problem I have is 4th and 5th. would they mesh if they were in both halves of the case? or is something off?

The 1-3 is all B16/CTR/US ITR ratios.

4th is B16 countershaft and LS mainshaft. 5th is B16 cs and LS ms. DO NOT USE THESE TOGETHER. They do not fit and you will have issues. And if for whatever reason that the LS mainshaft gear does work with this, it will not work with the B16 3rd gear setup you have. The LS utilizes a different 3-4 gear/synchro setup than the B-series VTEC transmissions.

4th is a B16/CTR/US ITR ratio and tooth count. 5th is an LS ratio and tooth count. They should work just fine. Do you have your numbers mixed up perhaps with the ones you wanted and the ones that work???

Also, do all of the trans guys in here a favor and do not mix and match gearsets that were not used together. lol It will not end well for your trans in all likelihood and cause you more issues in the future.

What is actually wrong/broken with all three transmissions? I'd recommend fixing one that you want and just keeping it.

solved ... the main shaft I put in had a 20t second gear making the others not line up .. replaced with the proper 19t main shaft and things went together very nice.. all gears have proper clearance and mesh like factory.

I had a B16 trans that had a Viscous LSD in it that took a crap. the ring gear and LSD are not the same as others in the B series fam. so I had to search for a ring gear and CS that would fit in the trans . I first bought a LS trans that had a broken case and a whole set of syncros for $50 and I planed on using the LS CS and Diff but things wouldnt work for some reason .I found a GSR CS and Ring gear and OEM ITR LSD that I got from a friend. so at this point I have gears and shafts laying all over the place .. the LS 5th is so I dont have to rev too high on the Hwy. would I be better off runing a B16 5th its going on a B20vtec in a civic

can the teeth on the sliders be reshaped to engage better than the rounded ones on them now or should I just get a new 3/4 slider kit?

Yeah, unless you magically find a cost effective way to add material to the sleeve and/or hub and remachine them, you're beat. Get a new set. It's about $280 or so for the 3-4 complete set.
