No spark on 2000 Si
Hey guys.
I'm having an issue with my 2000 Si with it not getting any spark.
The car had a VAFC that would cause me problems from time to time it was jostled because of a few loose connections in the ECU wiring. I was driving the car and during a shift it hesitated like it does on occasion when the ECU gets moved around. I came up to a stop sign and the car shut off. Typically a quick inspection of the wires and resetting the ECU would cure this and I would be fine for awhile.
This time that solution didn't fix the problem. When I got the car back to my house we found out that I am not getting spark at all. The car is cranking and I am getting fuel, however it will not turn on.
I redid all the wiring connections where the VAFC is wired to the ECU wiring and then eventually removed the VAFC wiring all together. Neither changed the situation.
I don't have any blown fuses and the Distributor cap, rotor, plugs, and wires are all less than 10k miles old. The distributor was taken apart and the contacts were cleaned up.
One thing that is really odd is that we cleaned up the ground terminal coming off the valve cover. After that was done the car cranked harder, but still left us with no spark.
The only code that the car is throwing is code 22 which is vtec related and I don't believe that would hinder the car from starting.
Thanks in advance.
