I have to admit that I wonder about the logic of the Lexus super car.
The GT-R, at least, is within the reach of a much bigger audience of potential purchasers. The price of the Lexus puts it out of reach of most thoughtful people (even if they have the money).
Lexus spent a lot of money developing a very nice vehicle that doesn't seem to have a particular audience or purpose. I am not sure they should've spent all that money in that department until they understood better how the technology would end up in the hands of their general audience.
But, well, what the hell do I know.

The LFA was designed to be a supercar in the league cars like the Carerra GT, Enzo, Pagani Zonda , Mclaren SLR and such, and all those cars are produced in very limited numbers and almost all of them were sold at a loss. People compare it to cheaper cars and do not realize how advanced this car is and how much of a bargain it is compared to the aforementioned cars.
Scott Pruett gave me a ride in it around Fontana's banked oval at 170 mph and then tore up the inner track and it was arguably one of my life's greatest experience ever? When will I ever be in a supercar driven by one of the world's best drivers to it's limits? Probably never.
What Toyota got out of the program is research and development in manufacturing advanced composites which they hope will trickle down to mainstream vehicles in the future. Marketing for the Lexus brand is probably almost as important as well.

:-)
I still think the money was unwisely spent, but I accept what you're saying that it is in a different league than I thought.
+1, They should have made the isf a 6spd and put a lsd in it, walah

Read up the specs of the LFA its crazy. They had to make the tach digital cause the motor would rev from idle to 9,000 so fast that a analog gauge couldn't keep up. Toyota's F1 team helped design and put together the motor. Its an incredible car and they are only making 300 or something like that.
