I just picked up a ctr intake cam going to be running that with a gsr exhaust cam in my b18c1, is it even worth it to get aftermarket cam gears im on a tight budget. If so how well do blox or black works cam gears hold up and how accurate are the markings? if i should run cam gears what ones would you suggest? heard good things about the golden eagle but the 4 bolt design scares me.

 

I don't think you would need cam gears if your on a tight budget. If you do decide to get some cam gears if your choices are blox or blackworks I would recommend Blox cam gears.

Sorry but do not BUY BLOX CAM GEARS. When I had a ctr intake cam I also bought a set of blox cam gears before I wen't to tune. The cam gears came with the markings off and I had to align it with my stock cam gears to get my timing right. I'd recommend Mfactory or skunk2. BTW I only made 159whp with skunk2 IM, a 3" CAI velocity stack, JDM ITR header, 2.5" straight pipe to 2.5" exhaust. It was such a shitty tune though and I was hella pissed at the tuner because I paid 350 for a flat rate tune and he only did a base line run for my A/F ratio. He did like 4 runs then he said that's it.

 

I would think a Type R intake cam would do just fine. I guess it depends on what goal you're trying to reach and what you're already using on your setup.

No. You will be able to slightly change your tq curve (where it peaks) if you tune it on a dyno, but you won't make significantly more power. Spend the money somewhere else.

 

Yeah. The cam Really made a diff though. Made the car way more fun especially if you have a skunk2 IM.

I think its possible. I had a gsr with ctr intake and exhaust cams, aem 3in. Cai, skunk2 manifold and dc headers with a B16 tranny and I dyno at 168.
