h22a various questions
hola fellow honda lovers happy saturday
so i will soon be ordering a h22a engine. im ordering the ecu as we speak.
and i was thinking of getting a lightweight fly wheel approx 10lbs but some people were saying that the revs drop real quick once u put the clutch in and i only street race and its also a daily driver so what do u guys think of putting that in.
and also i was thinking of keeping my f22a tranny
do u think thats insanlely ridiculous or what i think it would be sweet but i think it takes longer to go through the gears.
i think thats about it any other thing i should do while the engine is off.

Yes you compensate for actual rev drops. Switching to lighter flywheel means, compensating for rotating mass. The heavier the flywheel means, longer it takes to slow down rotating mass. Lighter mass means it slows down faster, heavier mass means more force.
Lighter flywheels accelerate faster than heavier flywheels.
For vtec engines, it only means shifting in from vtec to out of vtec, on stock engines.
Vtec is not a means of power, torque is rated power, horse power is only how fast the engine gets to that power.
Vtec is meaning less, peak torque hits at about 4.5k rpms. Peak HP hits around 6k

Get a H22a with a H22 tranny. Why? your tranny just sucks for reving. The H22 tranny is designed and will allow you to use your VTec, My accord has the LSD auto tranny, big difference. Buy from JDM sorce or HSMO good people to work with. They give you engine/tranny with ECm and sensors and Jdm Downpipe. My engine had no sluge and had a engine conditioner run thur it. Used 1/2 quart of oil for 1st oil change, good engine.
I believe peak torque is around 5.5k and peak HP is around 6.5k on the stock H22's; non Type S, Euro R. But with some form of tuning, VTEC crossover is typically lowered, along with peak torque RPM. The parts you put on obviously have an effect on this though.

I would get a new tranny, I went from the M2S4(H23a1 tranny) to the Euro R T2W4 and man what a huge difference. Acceleration is much faster and the 5th gear has the same ratio so top speed and highway mileage aren't affected. Definitely worth the money to use a shorter geared transmission.

It's from the '00 CL1 Accord Euro R, JDM and UDM Accords are two totally different cars. This is the transmission that comes with the red top 220hp H22a. It bolts right up, you'll just have to take the sensor from your old transmission that cuts the power steering off at high speeds since the CL1 either doesn't have PS or its electronic. This transmission is hard to find on its own since most importers only sell it with a full swap and it cost me $1500, some will charge more and I've seen them get sold for as low as $800 but it could have had some mileage on it.
^^ CL1 Euro R's have EPS (Electronic Power Steering) just like the EP3 & S2000.
Also the gear ratio's in the T2W4 are similar to that of the JDM ITR, and come factory equiped with a Hellical LSD.

Also with a different final drive they have the same effect as a B-Series box strapped to an H.

Yeah it has a helical LSD. I don't think I'd ever replace the final drive because I like the tall 5th and 1st, 2nd and 3rd are all very short. I have to use 4th going through neighborhood streets so I'm not making a bunch of noise when before 3rd had me revving pretty low.
