need some insight...headers, manifold.
I need some advice on my header setup. First off here is my motor setup gsr longblock, 81.5 pr3's, supertech valvetrain, sk2 stg2 cams, sk2 pro cam gears, stock head, 3 angle valvejob, blox manifold, jdm itr tb, 3" short ram with velocity stack, rc 310, sk2 fuel rail, -10 breather setup, sk2 mega power r 70mm exhaust (not installed), hytech replica header.
So I am looking at maybe replacing the hytech replica with a sk2 or maybe narrow replica. Basically the most I want to spend on a header is about 800. Now I have done some reading, I read donf's thread, marc's custom header thread, diesel's thread, etc. and its funny how in one thread the smsp will be on top in another thread the skunk2 or the narrow. then it turns into a pissing match so there is no real solid answers.
My car is not a daily more like a weekend warrior that I will use on the street/track/autocross. basically I want to know if its worth upgrading to lets say a skunk2 header for example. with my setup how much EST. gains will I see over the hytech replica? I understand theres alot of veriables and all motors are different but I dont have the money to buy multiple headers or get a custom set to see which best fits my setup. If you guys can point me in the right direction of what might be a good compliment to my setup, or if you think my header is sufficiant.
Also would it be worth looking into a skunk2 pro or edlebrock manifold over my blox manifold? I am just looking to get as much hp out of my current setup till I am done with my new one.
Hopefully I can get people like don, marc, NA, chime in and help me out. Btw if you rather pm me instead of posting here for w/e reason thats fine too .
Thanks Jon

There are better header choices out there than that header which is somewhat dated in design and performance. Bisimoto, SMSP will make good headers, the RMf narrow copy is good as well.
I would be willing to change out your intake manifold for a performer X intake, your cams with some Blox C's, Skunk2 pro 1's or RM 22x. I would also do a custom tuned intake length over that SRI you run.

true the bisi and smsp are really nice pieces a little pricey for me but i am talking to bisi now. How much gains you think I would see over the blox manifold? I definitly want to get my hands on some pro 1's but these will do for now. what is this custom tuned intake length you speak of? never heard of it

The performer x is the dominant intake for the 1.8L's, the Skunk/blox/itr/AEBS are all very similar versions of the same design. The Px is quite different when compared side by side and performs much better than all of them. Gains wise, you'd make more power everywhere in general and maybe the same power in a couple small places at worst.
As for the tuned intake length, you go to a dyno, with a 3" pipe that's bent to meet your throttle body that's about 45" long to start with. Make a pull, then cut 1" off and make another pull, cut another inch off. Keep going until you see what length made the best power and that's your tuned intake length you want to use. It'll make a lot more power than a simple SRI.

the hytech replica you have is fine, its should be the least of your concerns
you would make huge gains in power by spending that money in other areas especially if you plan on autocrossing the car
go w/ Skunk2 PRO 1 or 2 cams
RLZ radius valvejob
ditch the short ram and get a cold air for sure
im not familiar w/ the blox manifold, but you want to keep it as close to a type r or skunk 2 manifold as possible for what your looking to do

He's saying if your purchase a custom built header to your specs (like an SMSP, Bisimoto etc), it would be best.
NAH2B is right about where to best spend money for autocrossing but a Px intake manifold would still be better than an ITR style in that application as it's much better for torque production.

well guys i scored a deal i couldnt pass up 600 shipped for a sk2 header it was the display model. i sold my hytech replica for 200 so 400 isnt too bad right? i am also trying to sell my blox manifold for a edelbrock performer x. so i should have a stout setup? i just installed the skunk2 70mm exhaust, its awsome now i can see what a true 2.5 id exhaust is suppose to be. its alot bigger compared to the ws2 i had there.so what do you guys think?
I hit 191 SAE whp over a year ago on a dynojet. It needs more tuning and will make even better numbers but I've just been too busy to take care of it. Maybe in the spring.
lol, you shouldn't be sad, my uncorrected dyno numbers (STD) were 200whp and that is a number many like to post because it's higher. I could always run on a dynapack dyno and be over 200 whp but what's the difference? they are just numbers and not an absolute indication of how much power my car makes. That's best determined on the track.
I'm perfectly happy with the numbers I got because I know my car still has more in it with the parts I'm running. All it really needs is some cam tuning and a better overall tune and the numbers will more than likely hit the magic 200 which everyone seems to want. My car feels very strong on the street and that's where it spends most of its time so that's all I need.
The M22x's that I run are similar to the S2S2's before VTEC, after VTEC they are a little stronger and similar to the Pro 1's. As long as you're happy with how your car feels, don't get to hung up on the numbers. They're more for tuning purposes than anything.
