Default Power steering belt issue

5th gen:

Condition of belt: 4K miles

I was driving today and I noticed a noise coming from my engine. I opened my hood and noticed that the power steering belt was half shredded.

What is the cause of this? Misalignment? Needs more tightening?

What kind of noise was it ? did you notice any marks/scratches on other parts around your belt such as another pulley ?

Noise sounded like something was flapping under my hood. No scratches or marks on any other parts.

Id Check both. When my Crank pulley started to wobble, my power steering went out with it because the belt came off.

Will the power steering belt breaking off cause any damage to any other components? or will I just lose ps?

Well if it comes off while driving, you lose p/s, but it would also prob be a good idea to take off the belt if it comes off while driving so it doesnt just flop around, and cause possible damage.

Will removing the belt cause any other part of my p/s to get damaged? ie rack and pinion? p/s pump? Thanks for the replies btw

I want to say no, But I could be wrong. Im not too sure about any kind of dmg. It just becomes very very hard to turn the wheel without the belt on, because now you have to move all the fluid, and still have to pass it by the ps pump.
