Im putting the finishing touches on my dd b20vtec build this week and was thinking about ordering a chip from www.phearable.net and had some questions. First off I realize it would be ideal to take it to a dyno and tune from there but im strapped for time and cash but i've heard good things about the company so im going to give it a go. The build is an 00' b20b stock bottom end and, 00' b16 head with integra type R cams, Skunk 2 intake manifold, I/H/E and an LS tranny : ( and p72 ecu thats already chipped but after the b20 bottom end replaced the old ls bottom it went back to to stock some how. Would lowering the vtec engagement point to a lower point say 4200- 4500 help power wise because right now it is engaging at 6k and when im shifting at 7k it takes forever and a day to go through gears. Also what is a good recommendation for what rpm to set the 2 step. Also any other ideas as to how to make up for the power lost using the ls tranny in this all motor build. I'm not very educated when it comes to the tuning aspect of cars so some of this might sound stupid but any info that would help me get the most power/value out of this chip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Honestly, you should try contacting phearable.net. I'm sure they can set you up with the most ideal solution for your budget and can probably set you up with a decent basemap.
If you're using ITR cams, you'll probably want to have VTEC engage near the stock ITR engagement point, perhaps slightly lower, but not significantly.
