Default GReddy Turbo Help.

I have a just gotten a GReddy turbo from a friend of mine, he had 2 turbo's and he just got rid of both. Well the one that I have gotten he said it needs seals in it? I am just wondering about how much would seals be and how would they be changed? Any kind of help on this would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

there's more to repairing a turbo than "seals".

1. It needs to be fully inspected
2. You need to know if there is anything else wrong w/ the cartridge . "Seals" don't just go after a year or two on something that was designed to go hundreds of thousands of miles.
3. Which Greddy Turbo? Td04-15G? 18G? Be as specific as possible.
4. Depending upon what's wrong, it could be $200-$450 or more.. It must be sent in to get an estimate.
4. you may look to see after you sent it in, if it is worth your while to invest in it, or get something else.

It's an 18G. The guy that took it off his car, swapped it to my friend for some money he owed him. They said the only thing that it was doing wrong was smoking a little bit? Is the 18G a good turbo for a LS/Vtec turbo build?

Find out if the guy was running an oil restrictor. That 18g will spool up decent on the LS.

Most 18Gs on Hondas did not need any restrictor. Pictures of the turbo will help with your diagnosis.

Seems like the compressor side is ok. The exhaust side is extremely blurry, so you may need to get a better picture at a few angles. What symptoms specifically say he had experienced? This is a Garrett/mitsubishi hybrid, so rebuild is possible, but might be a bit costly.

Sry this is the only pic of the exhaust side.. It's the only one that would show up decently. The guy just said that when the turbo started to spool it would smoke a little bit and said he just thinks the seals might need to be replaced?? That's the only real thing I know that was wrong with it.
