Default Air from defroster vents in floor position

Greetings, it's gotten to where I've been using my heater here in sunny Florida, and I noticed I get annoying air up in my face from the defroster vents when I have the unit in the floor-vent-only position. Is this normal behavior or is my mode control motor acting up? Thanks for the inputs!
