H22 Manual Trans swap info into gen5 Accord?
I was about to order an LSD for my 97 Accord and put it in but read that you can swap an H22 JDM LSD trans. My question is how is the quality of the factory LSD that comes in this trans and how much power can it take? Also which model preludes does this come out of and how will I know if I find one at the junk yard? I don't want to spend time pulling something out that wouldn't work. My last question is if I do this swap will the stock axels work or do I need to get the prelude ones? I search for this info but couldn't locate all of it.
Thanks for the help

What type of power are you planning on making?
Mr Wonderfull / extralargeeggnog was making 600hp and broke M2B4 transmissions, I have a feeling when he was around 400hp he would have been fine with it.
The aftermarket will be better quality - you're paying around $800 for JUST an LSD vs $1000 for a transmission AND LSD. Not too mention the OEM setup would be multiple years old.
I suggest you do more searching as there is PLENTY of info regarding it.
*edit* And you are not going to find the OEM LSD in a junkyard, I can tell you that right now.

Thanks for the replies! I have a home brew turbo kit in the making, don't plan on putting more than 300whp down, just a daily driver. Any suggestions on where to look for one of these transmissions?
OP PM me your number... Ive posted the info so many times I dont want to get into it toooo much here... BUT...
Id be more than happy to blab to you on the phone...
Muff Speaks the truth... Ive lost count how many trannys I blew up before figuring out ALOT of **** as NO ONE had any info that was helpfull... Just alot of H2B fanboys that dont know what theyre talking about. Ive ended up with a M2F4 case with a forged straightcut Saewnz gearset and OBX diff..... Thing is burly and hasnt broke since I got it all figured out...
What breaks is always 2nd and fourth in the h trannys...
A CHEAP alternative to aftermarket axles is to swap to a prelude intermeidiate shaft and 5th gen Lude axles ONLY OEM HONDA, From a junkyard will be fine... They are internally ALOT stronger than the Accord axles... It can be H23 or H22 but MUST be a DOHC 2.2 L motor and NO NO NO NO aftermarket axles... No Vatozone, No Schucks no nothing..... Ive been running the same set at over 600whp for 2 years and am just now going to change them out due to the bopot being hammered on one... But they had around 80K on them and I beat the SHIIIIIIIIT out of my car...
As for the tranny info : Under 400 WHP youll be ok with an OEM box..... Its the TQ that kills them, wheel hop will accelerate it.... As will traction. JDM LSD box for the money? Meh. The 1 2 and 3 are the same ratio as the M2F4 so theres the parts to fix any breakage there, but the real bitch is if/when the ring gear for the JDM LSD (M2B4 box) breaks the ring gear. You CANNOT order parts from Japan to replace it... You can troll PP and the prelude forums HOPING you get lucky.....
OR heres the secret: The ring gear off of an ATTS tranny is THE EXACT same thing :O) Still if you break the internal planetarys youre ****ed...
I will say this... Ive broke every tranny made Including hybrids... Id ay that youll be okat at the level youre talking about... I built a new tranny for my friend Justin thats makingt 550 at the wheels and its nbeem reliable, but he kept breaking the 4the gen accord axles, so we swapped the fifth gen Lude inners onto the shafts and he hasnt broken anything since.
Ok Im sick of tyoing but would be happy to help you out.
By the way, where are you. Justin has a M2B4 for 650
