Icon2 CEL After 99 Civic SI Cluster Swap...

Wassup HT??? Got a weird scenario here... I did a 99 Civic SI cluster swap in my 91 4DR and i now have a check engine light that only comes on when the car is slowing down in gear (basically an engine brake). I dont beleive its a knocking problem or anything that is very serious... It even happens when i keep the RIPem's (rpms) low (under 2500) and its a engine brake longer than like 4 seconds... Like i said, it didnt begin this until i did the cluster swap...

Any ideas HT???

its code #17 VSS (vehicle speed sensor)

Im not 100% sure about how to correcty go about fixing this problem but, what i did was get a 93 civic auto speed sensor and made a contraption for it to fit into the speed sensor and i tucked it away behind the dash and ran a wire to the ecu since the ECU generates the signal since the 99 SI cluster is electronic... and BTW my speed sensor cable comming out of the tranny DOES NOT come out... its a 91 Civic 4DR LX

What to do???
Swap Sensors???

I think the speed showing on the dash gets a lil off after bout 70mph (+ or - like 5 mph i beleive)

newbies. the VSS from a cable transmission does come out. otherwise how would you replace it when it goes bad? i believe there is 1 bolt holding it down.

i know u said the cable wont come out of the tranny but it really should. but in any case u can put an ek speed sensor in ur ef tranny. but if ur cable is stuck chances are ur speed sensor will not be fun either. i have the oppostie problem i put a hydro tranny in my rex and had to swap the sensors.
sometimes u can free up the sensor from the tranny by puting it in different gears and rocking it a bit. mine was stuck not budging at all and then one day it just pulled out with very little effort. just my 2c.
