98 civic with eagle/vitara setup. I was doing a 3rd gear pull on the highway. yes its tuned by a reputable tuner(sewell94) and it just cut out, everytime i touched on the gas while it was in gear it back fired. then tried starting it and all it would do was back fire and turn over. I get spark I have a see through dizzy cap and can see spark. it gets gas because of the back fires. and I know it gets air. The ignition switch was recently changed.

 

try a different good ecu

 

check the little spring thingy in the rotor, make sure it didnt come out/ snap/break. that has happened to me and i get spark and backfires, but only until i checked with my hand over the plug hole and watched the spark to see if it was in time i realized it was not. took the rotor off and found out it was broken and had turned on the distributor shaft

also JDM distributors are notorious for having the bearing go bad. take the dizzy off and the rotor off and make sure it spins freely.

 

Jump timing?

 

sorry for the long delay. I took the cap off the Dizzy and the Rotor was blown to a bunch of pieces. new rotor and it started right up
